Agata Oleksiak, who goes by Olek, was for me the most memorable and striking artist at SCOPE Art Show, an offshoot of the annual Art Basel Miami Beach. Olek seems to crochet everything around her. She crochets her thoughts and her friends. (Read here what it’s like to be one of her knitted jumpsuit-wearing models.) She crochets cars and bikes. She even crochets toilets. I think it’s safe to call her an crocheting maniac. But she’s also a serious artist with an impressive list of exhibitions and artist-in-residencies on her resume.
The Christopher Henry Gallery brought Olek’s Kitting is for Pus**** exhibition to SCOPE, and set her up in a fully crocheted booth. Check out my pics below (photos 1 and 9 are from Olek’s website).
