(Not necessarily in that order.) I finally got my butt to the California Academy of Sciences on Thursday night. After a 10-year stint as a science reporter and editor, I took a major break from all (OK most, it’s impossible to completely escape) things science. I resisted checking out the academy because of my weird conflicted feelings about my relationship with science writing and my desire to become something almost irrationally different from that: a fashion writer. But three years after my departure from my science gig, I guess I was ready. I even wrote a science-y piece for Gizmodo, look for it tomorrow! It turns out the two worlds are not mutually exclusive. And I can’t think of a more fun combination than science and cocktails, unless of course you add food to the mix, which we did, with surprisingly delicious veggie buns from the cafeteria (Why did I not take a photo? Too much wine, probably). Oh and if you add a dose of fashion, that makes the night even better, so I’m gonna go ahead and do that right now.
