I recently attended the CCA fashion show wearing this, one of my favorite dresses, by the brilliant Ms. Hoffman. The headline is not altogether accurate: I would LOVE another Mara Hoffman dress, but it’s not the only thing I want. I want a YSL Arty ring and a trip to Hawaii (or Paris. OK both) and the perfect high-waist bell-bottomed jeans, flatforms,
one 10 million dollars, world peace, and the real-life versions of the adorable kittens I’m standing in front of (though they are rather large), just to name a few things that come to my greedy mind. But I have to also say that my birthday has been most excellent so far without any of those things. It started off with a bit of a headache from too much champagne last night, but who can complain about that? Later I went to my beloved Rhythm and Motion dance class with the super fabulous, talented, generous and phenomenal teacher, Dudley Flores. He wished me Happy Birthday, and instructed everyone in class to give me a celebratory bootie shake, which I enjoyed quite a bit. Taking Dudley’s class = best birthday present ever. Also, my parents, sister-in-law and niece called and sang Happy Birthday to me, and I’ve gotten a zillion Facebook bday wishes (Some might think it’s impersonal, or something? But I derive much pleasure from my birthday Wall). I’ve been working for the past five hours, but that’s OK because it’s with the anticipation of a birthday dinner my husband’s taking me to tonight. Birthdays basically rule, in my opinion.
