I must say I will miss the kittens with rainbow laser beams shooting from their eyes, but Bona Drag’s new retail site is an improvement usability-wise if a more conventional design. It’s easier to navigate, and they have the best off-the-beaten-track designers, like Arielle de Pinto (amazing crocheted jewelry), Lindsay Thornburg (to die for capes), and Vessels (love the spine maxi dress). Another favorite: the Madison Harding black and gray Val Platforms (can’t decide!). They provide lots of photos of each item, and while they don’t allow you to magnify items like some of the bigger sites, their their models are more interesting to look at than most. Plus, you have to love a website that kicks off it’s redesign by giving visitors the middle finger.
Fun fact: bona drag means “nice outfit” in Polari, a secret language used by gay people in 1960’s London. It’s also the title of a Morrissey album.
Bonus: Favorite YouTube videos on the about page (somehow I was a double rainbow virgin until today!)
