I recently interviewed artist Tiffany Bozic about her amazing acrylic paintings on wood for io9 (Gawker’s awesome sci fi blog). I’ve been wanting to write about science-y artists since my days as a science editor at Wired when we wrote about the Gigantoraptor (is that an awesome name or what?), a bird-like dinosaur researchers discovered in Mongolia in 2007. Just look at that image (after the jump) — I got some comments that Mr. (or Ms.) Gigantoraptor looked like a somewhat flamboyant. Who doesn’t love the idea of a flamboyant dinosaur?
I always wondered about these artists’ backgrounds. Did they also have science training? How closely did they work with scientists? And did they take liberties with artistic interpretations, or were the creations scientifically precise? I asked Tiffany Bozic all these questions and lots more. Check out the interview at io9!
