I spent several hours this morning investigating the freeze-your jeans-movement. Have you heard about it? It’s spearheaded by people (mostly of the male variety) who love raw denim, which is denim that hasn’t been washed after it’s dyed. So all of the whiskering and fading comes from wearing them, making the fit super customized. Guys (and maybe some ladies) can go for more than a year without washing their jeans. So instead, they stick them in the freezer, figuring that will freshen them up.
Guess what? Freezing your jeans doesn’t clean them. It might save water and make you believe that they’re fresh, but you’re not really getting any dirt or bacteria out of them by freezing them, according to scientists who know about such things. Check out the whole story here on Gizmodo!
