The Carine Roitfeld-styled fall Chanel campaign features models dressed in a feline fashion, complete with whiskers and black silk flowers for ears. Meanwhile, Givenchy’s fall ads feature Naomi Campbell and friends (or not?) snarling like wild dogs. Other outlets have interpreted their tooth-baring as cat-emulation, but in the video below, flashes of the toothy models are interspersed with angry wolf-like canines, which the models appear to be imitating. Unless they’re supposed to be cats fighting with the dogs? In any case, in my opinion: 1. if the Givenchy and Chanel campaigns were to rumble, Givenchy would prevail (unless the kitties ran away super fast and hid) and 2. even models look silly when they’re snarling for the camera.
Also, p.s. the more I look at the Chanel ad’s muted, vintage-y colors plus the quilted gloves and belt, the more I love it.
