Hey lovely friends! I’m co-hosting a Ladies Night at Mira Mira at 3292 22nd Street in the Mission on Thursday, June 26, and I would love it if you joined me! The event will celebrate Mira Mira owner Mira Pickett’s amazing taste and curation of a store that makes me super wanty, as well as a new and fabulous line of eyewear called Brownie and Madam.
I recently received my pair and I’m absolutely obsessed with them. All of their glasses are designed specifically for women, something I’ve not encountered before, and they just feel really good on my face. They don’t hurt my ears, they don’t slide down my nose, and they don’t rest on my cheeks (which drives me crazy).
The way Brownie and Madam works is also super convenient and revolutionary. They come to you with all their designs in a carrying case. It’s very charming and old-timey. A trained stylist helps you determine which pair looks and feels best on your face. I’ve never been so confident in choosing a frame—quite the opposite, I usually walk away from the optometrist feeling dizzy and confused. This time, I was certain I’d made the right choice.
I love the design—the color is “sangria matte,” and they’re a size that’s a little more appropriate for my face than previous frames I’ve owned. I always want to go for the oversized Jenna Lyons look, but I have a pretty small head so it can look a little out of control. Check me out wearing my Brownie and Madam beauties above, I’d love to hear what you think! I have a matte black pair on my want list as well—how great would it be to have a pair for each day of the week? It could get a bit expensive with my crazy prescription, but Brownie and Madam’s excellent prices make it tempting. Prescription eye glasses are $185, and progressives are $350. Yes I need progressives now, please don’t tell anyone. That price includes the frames AND lenses, which is amazing considering I recently priced my lenses at my optometrist, and they would have cost $600 FOR THE LENSES ALONE!
As you can tell I’m a convert. Stop by on Thursday to meet the Brownie and Madam folks, raise a glass with Mira and I, and learn more about Brownie and Madam! Hope to see you there!
