This weekend is the second Sunday of the month, and that means it’s time for Solidarity Sundays! Each month focuses on a particular topic we’re concerned about in the context of the 45th American presidency. This month it’s the environment, and I’m excited to have TWO speakers lined up:
1. An EPA employee, will tell some brief stories about how the EPA has and continues to work to rescue the Bay Area’s environment.
2. Kourosh Karimkhany (aka my husband), who is working to develop an atmospheric monitoriing system using IBM’s Watson. He’ll discuss the possible impending revokation of the California Waiver, and how our state legislators can fight back (and how we can support them to do so).
As always we will have childcare, so please bring your kids!
And as usual, an information packet has been created by the Solidarity Sundays founders with tons of information that will be updated until Saturday evening. I’m imagining that although our overarching topic is the environment, we will also discuss the violence in Syria.
Here’s a rundown of approximately how the meet up will go:
2pm-2:30pm: Meet, greet, eat, drink
2:30-3pm: Intros and agenda
3pm: EPA Presentation
3:30pm: California Waiver Presentation
4pm-5pm: Call and/or write to Members of Congress! Please bring computers, postcards, thank you cards, any cards you have lying around 🙂
And just in case you’re not already familiar: Solidarity Sundays is a nationwide network of more than 150 progressive, feminist, anti-racist activist groups committed to resisting the Tr*mp agenda and working for peach, justice and equality. I host the Pacifica chapter on the Second Sunday of each month. Please comment below or email me at kp at stylenik dot com if you’d like an invite.
