I know I’ve been rather gratuitous with my posts today (royals, cats), but how can I NOT post about Kate Moss’s nuptuals, an event that so perfectly fits a theme that’s near and dear to Stylenik: the hippie wedding dress. In addition, she married Jamie Hince, who makes up half of one of my fave bands, The Kills. The other half is Alison Mosshart, whose killer style I have admired on these pages multiple times. So you see it’s not really gratuitous, but totally in line with my coverage!
The dress, according to The Daily Mail, was designed by John Galliano (dude’s got some problems but let’s stick to the wedding for now) and inspired by Zelda Fitzgerald. While she’s obviously not a ’70s icon, there’s a relationship between ’20s and ’70s style that we’ll be exploring in an upcoming special report, stay tuned! Her embroidered cap veil makes me want to do mine over with a veil more than ever. She had 15 young (like little girl young, including her daughter) bridesmaids, like every good hippie wedding should. They wore flower wreaths around their heads and white dresses, except for her former casting agent Jess Hallett who wore a blue Stella McCartney dress.
And that brings us to Hince’s suit, which was the same shade of blue and designed by Yves Saint Laurent creative director Stefano Pilati, which was double-breasted and featured stovepipe (natch) pants. Rock on!!
