Frida has her first black eye. She fell down a few stairs while carrying a ramekin, which got wedged between her face and the controversial shag carpet—this is one of those times we were glad to have it. The ceramic cup (thank god it did not break!) created a perfect-circle of a bruise around her eye. It was her first real injury that broke the skin. When it happened of course we rushed to her, she was crying, and the more laser-focused on her bruise we were with distressed faces the harder she cried. So I smiled and felt like a crazy person who smiles while she’s distraught.
But as you can see, all is well. These photos are from the next day, when we went to Bardessono in Yountville (which is gorgeous, btw, though not the best for little kids) for brunch. The bruise was already starting to clear up, and today, two days later, it’s a tiny mark. Accidents are bound to happen but here’s hoping they don’t!
