The Oakland-based non-profit helps girls between 8 and 18 find their voices (pun intended) through music education and performance. A two-girl band called Bayonettes performed some of their own songs as well as covers of Wilco and other bands (I think I heard a Crosby Stills & Nash tune). They were fantastic and made me wish such an organization existed when I was growing up. Who *knows* what could have happened? Instead I tried taking guitar lessons in my 30s. I did receive the “most improved” award among my classmates — but sadly I remember just one or two chords. Anyway this is not about me, it’s about the BAGRC and how Laline contributed some of the store proceeds that night to the non-profit. Keep on rocking girls!
