Red, white and blue and I are having kind of a thing lately. I used to avoid the color combo because it seemed too patriotic during months other than July. But then I decided it also seemed quite French as well as nautical. Frautical! Who’s with me? In any case, I was excited to find this red blazer with shiny gold buttons at the Banana Republic Factory Store—it was majorly marked down, it fit like a glove, and I imagined it being unexpectedly preppy (and Frautical) on this boho-leaning Californian.
What to wear under it was next, and BR Factory Store had lots of blouses that would have looked lovely. But I have SO MANY blouses that I never wear. You should see how sad they all look when I choose a button down oxford or flannel pretty much every time I’m looking to top off a pair of jeans or a skirt. So I drifted into the men’s section, where I found some pretty plaid flannels. And this particular one happened to pair perfectly with my red blazer.
My parents bought Frida this little sailor dress over the summer but I’d kind of forgotten about it because summers are cold in San Francisco. But the weather was so nice today, and I was wearing my red, white and blue, and I remembered the little sailor dress existed, and I became very excited about our photo shoot. I forgot her shoes, so we had to be careful about where she walked and she had no interest in being corralled. But the husband is skilled at snapping her fleeting happy moments.
And now for the good stuff. Head to Banana Republic Factory Store online for 50% off EVERYTHING, including new arrivals and clearance. That makes everything practically free!
What I’m wearing: Red blazer, $33 (was $110), c/o Banana Republic Factory (petite); men’s plaid flannel shirt, $25 (was $50), c/o Banana Republic Factory; AG jeans, similar here; and my oldest, favoritest clogs scored on eBay ages ago.
