Some of you may know that I recently took on a new part-time writing gig for Gizmodo.com, part of the Gawker family, writing about science (which is something I did in my former life and cannot seem to escape from! Probably because every time I try I realize that I like and miss it, dammit). Yesterday when the news broke of Steve Jobs stepping down as CEO of Apple, it was amazing to watch the Gizmodo staff devour and spit back out that story smartly and in short order. I’ve never seen anything like it and it made be proud to be part of their team. You can check out their amazing coverage here. And, NEWS ALERT, Steve Jobs is still alive, people. AND he’s chairman of the board — a brand new title for the company created just for him. Signs do point to him being ill, but mourning and vigils are not appropriate at this juncture. Blow out your candle and go buy an iPad.
