Our view at Vera Wang during New York’s fashion week was of Team Vogue plus Serena Williams. It was one time we were happy to be standing, because we could get great shots of the team. The usual suspects were present: Anna Wintour, Grace Coddington. Andre Leon Talley, Hamish Bowles. We did manage tear our eyes away from The Bob and friends to check out the clothing as well, which was beautiful. According to the New York Times, the film Kill Bill was Wang’s inspiration. That wasn’t what immediately came to mind as we watched models with enormously teased hair and pretty dresses and separates saunter down the runway, but hey, who are we to question an artist’s muse? The dresses and skirts were nipped in at the waist with volume at the hips, a trend we’re happy to see perpetuated. We were less enthusiastic to see yet another version of harem pants. The overall impact of the show, however, negated any saggy crotch discomfort. We loved the flower print on a black background featured on two of her black dresses. And the peach dress with the whispery-light train was divine.
