Pretty Pretty Collective is presenting a show of Paul A. Dobleman’s haunting and beautiful art tonight at their shop in San Francisco. Have you been to Pretty Pretty Collective? It’s a small space, but Georgia and her team do amazing things with it. I was just there yesterday to get my hair did, and noticed their incredible mirrors, which hang from the ceiling attached to a pulley system. When I was there last month for the Mira Mira lookbook fashion show, I didn’t notice the mirrors that night, so I asked Georgia if they were new. Silly me, they were pulled up close to the ceiling to create space for the runway! They are amazing and aesthetically pleasing contraptions. I’m imagining you’ll have to look up to see them tonight, but what you’ll really want to be looking at is the gorgeous art of Paul A. Dobleman.
Dobleman is also a tattoo artist at Spider Murphy’s in San Rafael, one of the most coveted places in the whole wide world to get inked. Check out some of his skin art here. The tattoo influence is evident in his non-skin work, but (to my admittedly uneducated eye) it stands on its own as well. His paintings have a heavy Dios de los Muertas theme, but I see a hint of art deco that keeps them light.
What about the hot guys, you ask? Georgia promises there will be lots of them there tonight at the opening! So, single ladies, you know what you’re doing tonight, right?
