This past weekend we had some folks over for brunch and I made Paula Deen’s carbohydrate-laden recipe for French toast casserole. The concoction involved bread soaked in eggs and HALF AND HALF and it was covered with pecans, brown sugar and butter, then sprinkled with blueberries and stawberries (in lieu of the raspberries). Unsurprisingly—if only because that combination of ingredients cannot be bad—it was delicious. So much so that my lovely friend Kristen, who unbeknownst to me harbored a vehement hatred of French toast, loved it. It was also rather pretty and, naturally, I thought to myself: this should really be an outfit. And voila! Now it is.
